Letters from Belle Sparr Luckett to family in America (with photocopies of each filed with originals)
Scope and Content
This collection includes 22 lengthy letters written in 1913 by Letitia Belle Sparr Luckett. These describe her first year in Korea as a missionary and school teacher at the Pyongyang Foreign School. Each letter is written on a special Asian paper, several yards in length. Because of the difficulty involved in reading such letters, a photocopy of each has been filed with the originals in the collection. The collection also contains several photographs, a set of Bible-verse illustration cards in Korean, a dinner invitation to the Japanese Governor's home, farewell letters to Mrs. Luckett from 1916, and several other significant items.
