Biographical / Historical
Edwards Amasa Park (1808-1900) was professor of sacred rhetoric (1836 - 1847) and Christian theology (1847- 1881) at Andover Seminary. He had previously served as a Congregational pastor and as a professor at Amherst College. Dr. Parks was editor of Bibliotheca Sacra for forty years and a prolific writer. He also received honorary doctoral degrees from Harvard and Brown Universities.
James Ormsbee Murray (1827-1899), a graduate of Brown University and Andover Theological School, was Holmes Professor of Belles Lettres at the College of New Jersey (Princeton University) from 1875 to 1899 and dean of the faculty from 1883 to 1899. He was Princeton University's first dean.
Murray was also a trustee and director of Princeton Theological Seminary.
