Biographical Information

Reverend Andrew W. Blackwood, Jr. (born 1915) was educated at Wooster College and Princeton Theological Seminary (Th.B. 1940), and also studied at Ohio State University, Emory University, and Columbia Seminary. He was ordained in 1940 and pastored First Presbyterian Church of Newton, New Jersey from 1940 to 1942 and from 1946 to 1950. He later pastored Northminster Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio from 1950 to 1956, First Presbyterian Church of West Palm Beach, Florida from 1956 to 1967, and Covenant Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia from 1967. Reverend Blackwood authored numerous books, including several Biblical commentaries. He died in 1987. This collection consists primarily of his sermon manuscripts and other writings.

The papers of Reverend Blackwood were donated to the Seminary Libraries in 2000 by his widow, Mary Ann Blackwood. These items were organized into a manuscript collection in September of 2000 by Joe L. Coker, under the direction of William O. Harris, Archivist.
