Biographical Information

The Reverend Doctor John Henry Livingston (1746-1825) was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and educated at Yale College and the University of Utrecht, where he received his Doctor of Sacred Theology degree. He also received an honorary Master of Arts degree from Princeton College and the Doctor of Divinity from Union and Yale Colleges. He was for many years a pastor as well as a professor of theology for the Dutch Reformed Church in New York and New Jersey. Dr. Livingston was president of Queen's College (Rutgers University) and professor of theology for the Seminary of the Dutch Reformed Church at New Brunswick, New Jersey from 1810 to 1825.

Processing Information:

This volume was acquired by the Seminary Libraries through a gift from T.S. Wynkoop, a graduate (class of 1864) and a trustee of the Princeton Seminary. It was processed as a manuscript collection and the original finding aid was written in October of 1996 by Raymond D. Cannata, under the direction of William O. Harris, Archivist. The finding aid was edited by Sarah Seraphin in March of 2009.
