The Richard Webster Manuscript Collection
Scope and Content
This collection consists of ten letters written by Mr. Webster. Eight of the letters were addressed to his brother while he was studying at Princeton, 1832-1834. Two other letters regarding David Brainerd, are addressed to Allen H. Brown (class of 1843) in 1847 and 1851.

Biographical Information
Richard Webster was a graduate of Union College (in New York) and Princeton Seminary (Class of 1834). He also studied at Andover Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Albany and served as a pastor in Pennsylvania until his early death in 1856.

These items were given to the Seminary sometime prior to January of 1828, when they were stamped with the Seminary Library's dated seal. These letters were preserved in the "Alumni Alcove" collection and later in File D. In December of 1996 these items were organized as a manuscript collection and the original finding aid was written by Raymond D. Cannata, under the direction of William O. Harris, Archivist. The finding aid was edited by Sarah Seraphin and Daved Anthony Schmidt in May of 2009.
