Condition Description
The William McElwee Miller Jr. papers span from the 1920s to the early 2000s. The materials in the collection mostly belonged to his father, William McElwee Miller Sr., and include: books, letters, pamphlets, journal articles, photographs, VHS tapes, and magnetic tapes. The books consist of drafts and published copies of Miller's work from 1930 to the 1990s as well as works taken from the bookshelf he shared with his wife. There is also a collection of documents written by Miller Jr. in the 2000s that list information about his father's books. The letters in the collection mostly span from the 1920s to the 1960s and cover his time working as a missionary in Persia as well as his travels around the world. There is also a collection of letters and pamphlets related to Miller Sr.'s work with conventions and missionary groups that span from the late 1930s to the 1960s. While Miller worked as a missionary, he collected articles from religious journals that date from the 1920s to the 1950s. He also collected alumni materials related to Washington and Lee University. Finally, there is a reel to reel magnetic tape player. The collection is organized in five series: Correspondence, Writings and Publications by and Regarding William McElwee Miller Sr., Writings and Publications by Others, Media, and Personal Documents.
