The John Rodgers Manuscript Collection
Scope and Content
This collection consists of two file boxes containing approximately 100 sermon manuscripts written by Dr. Rodgers. The sermons were composed from April 7, 1748, through January 20, 1808. Most of these manuscripts include the dates and places where the messages were originally given and the scripture texts that were used.

Biographical Information
The Reverend Doctor John Rodgers (1727-1811) was born in Boston. He was a prominent "New Side" Presbyterian pastor, serving at New York City's Wall Street Church and elsewhere. (For more details see "John Rodgers," W.B. Sprague, Annals of the American Pulpit, III, pp. 154-165).

Little is known about the origins of this collection, except that it was acquired by the Seminary sometime prior to February 1921, when its items were stamped by the library. The collection was catalogued several years ago and assigned a call number of MS R6165.
