The Irving Harris Manuscript Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the personal papers of Mr. Harris, including student lecture notes from Virginia Theological Seminary and New College, Edinburgh, correspondence, bibliography, personal notes, clippings, published items, and miscellaneous manuscripts. These items were given to the Seminary Archives in December of 1995 by Irving Harris.

Biographical / Historical
Irving Harris graduated from Princeton University (class of 1920) and attended Virginia Theological Seminary (Episcopal) in Alexandria and New College, Edinburgh. He was ordained into the ministry of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. (Northern). He became involved in the Oxford Group and related movements (Moral Re-Armament, First Century Christian Fellowship, Faith at Work). Mr. Harris was appointed the editor of Calvary Episcopal Church's Evangel, which became the central publication of the movement. He labored tirelessly, authoring and editing numerous books, articles, and pamphlets.
