Scope and Contents
This collection contains a variety of Felmeth’s personal materials. These include selected sermons by Felmeth dated 1958-1977 and two folders of color photographs of uncertain date that seem to depict Felmeth’s PTS class of 1942 reunion, retirement party and other special events. The collection also includes retirement memorabilia, color facsimiles of Felmeth’s World War II scrapbook and four medals from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge honoring sermons by Felmeth.

Biographical / Historical
The Reverend Dr. William Harte Felmeth was born on May 21, 1918. Raised in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Dr. Felmeth graduated cum laude from Harvard College and earned his divinity degree from Princeton Seminary in 1942. In 1963 he was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree from Bloomfield College. After four years’ service as an Artillery officer in the Aleutians and Europe during World War II, he was called as Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury, New Jersey. In 1951 he took up the pastorate of the Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, where he served until accepting the appointment of Vice-President for Development at Princeton Theological Seminary in May of 1974. Dr. Felmeth served in this post until his retirement in 1983.
