The Richard Webster Manuscript Collection

This collection consists of ten letters written by Mr. Webster. Eight of the letters were addressed to his brother while he was studying at Princeton, 1832-1834. Two other letters regarding David Brainerd, are addressed to Allen H. Brown (class of 1843) in 1847 and 1851.

This collection consists of various personal papers belonging to Dr. Andrus. These include significant correspondence regarding a controversy over Governor and U.S. Presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson's church affiliation. Among these papers are numerous letters (both originals and photocopies) written by Stevenson and by his son. There are also numerous news clippings and essays on the subject.

Scope and Contents This collection consists entirely of three manuscript notebooks. Volume one contains notes on the Hebrew text of the Old Testament, as well as financial notes from a church in Kersey (1896-97). The second volume is a manuscript concordance of Ecclesiasticus. The third volume contains notes on the history of missions.These notebooks were given to the Seminary sometime before Jan. 16, 1939, when they were marked by the library.
